Technique: Shibori (Multiple semi-circle pattern)
Space between stitches: 0.5”
Stitch length: approx. 0.25”
Thread: Nylon size 69 (single)
Dye: 1 part sodium alginate 1 part 3% SS MX dye
Steps followed:
- Fold cloth in half marking concentric half circles at the fold line
- A continuous thread is used to stitch each row of half-circles leaving a tail at the end of each line
- After the center circles were sewn, cloth at either side was folded and stitched in the same manner in between making 7 circles in the finished pattern
- Cloth is painted with thickend dye applied liberally with a foam brush and batched for about 1 hour
- Cloth is washed and thread is pulled out
