Technique: Cross-Stitched Tucks (Bow Tied)
"Tuck folds forced to elevate between crossover stitching that holds the tucks down." (Wolff, pg.171)
Materials: Cotton broadcloth
Spacing/Size: 3" between tucks with 1/4" centered tuck
Folding Methods: Begins with centered fabric fold to make the centered tuck
Anchoring methods: Machine stitching to hold centered tucks adn one hand-stitched bow-tie for the decorative tuck

• This technique is similar to a box pleat with an extra decorative gather in the center
 
Advantages:
• Easy way to embellish
• Can control placement of the gather due to being hand-stitched
 
Disadvantages:
• Time consuming becasue of use of machine and hand-stitch
• Using a small 1/4" center tuck increases difficulty
 
Ideas for Exploration:
• Increasing frequency of the bow-tie tuck for a different appearance
• Using colored thread for a more striking look
